MPPT charge controllers

A charge controller manages the flow of energy from the panels to the battery and protects it from overcharging. MPPT controllers track the panels’ maximum power point, so they harvest more energy than simpler PWM controllers, especially at low temperatures and with greater voltage differences.

How to choose a charge controller

  • Battery voltage - 12, 24 or 48 V.
  • Charging current - sized to the panel power and battery capacity.
  • Maximum input voltage - must exceed the panel string voltage at low temperature.
