Off-grid inverters and inverter/chargers
An off-grid inverter converts battery voltage (12, 24 or 48 V) to 230 V AC. An inverter/charger also charges the batteries from the mains or a generator and automatically switches the supply when the mains fails. This is the foundation of a backup power system and a standalone off-grid installation.

What to look for
- Battery voltage - 12 V in motorhomes and boats, 48 V in homes and larger systems.
- Continuous and peak power - sized for the largest loads, e.g. pumps and compressors.
- Built-in MPPT - lets you connect panels without a separate charge controller.
